Vasco Da Gama 2024 Anniversary Kit
On this edition of Shirt Of The Week, we are taking a look at the brand new Vasco Da Gama 2024 anniversary shirt. Vasco are no strangers when it comes to incredible jersey’s, with countless bangers to their name since their partnership with Kappa started in 2020. The new anniversary kit features a base colour of white, together with gold on the sleeves, Kappa badge and across the front of the shirt as the outline of a sash, which holds the red club crest.
This jersey was produced to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Historic Response, which was a letter of objection written by the club’s president in 1924 to the Athletic Sports Association, who had tried to exclude 12 Vasco players from competing in the Brazilian 1st division, due to the fact that these men were black, immigrant or from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. In 1925 Vasco Da Gama were reinstated to play in the top division with its previously banned players. It was a momentous moment for Brazilian football and Black men across Brazil.
Vasco Da Gama currently plays in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, the top flight of Brazilian football. The side currently sit 10th in the league and will be aiming to push for the Libertadores qualifiers (top 6). Vasco play their home matches in the Sao Januario Stadium, which has a capacity of just under 25,000 spectators.
